Thanksgiving has come and gone, and it was a very special one with all of my brothers and sisters together for the first time in over 10 years. It was also bittersweet with several family members missing. Peter was in Calgary, a few neices & nephews were away and even more noticeable was the absence of my sister in-law Karla as we celebrated Thanksgiving with Jeff, Courtney & Carrie in their home. Because there are so many of us, we are usually spread out and take up several different tables, but for the very first time, all 30 of us sat at one long table. It was quite amazing to look up and down the table and be among the people who have most shaped my life. I love my large and fun family.
Peter arrived home from his trip from Calgary yesterday. After unpacking, re-packing, putting up the Christmas tree, hanging the outdoor lights, decorating the house, writing our family Christmas letter, visiting with family, eating & sleeping, his 24 hrs at home were over, and he was off for another week in Calgary. We crammed a ton into his short time at home, and now it's beginning to feel like Christmas at our house. I love this time of year...
